Temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu
Enjoy a day tour to the Temple of Kom Ombo, perched on high ground with stunning views of the Nile. This temple is unique due to its twin entrances, each dedicated to a different deity: Haroeris, the falcon-headed god, and Sobek, the crocodile-headed god.
The temple honors both Sobek, the god of fertility and creator of the world, and Haroeris (or Horus), the ancient falcon-headed deity. Kom Ombo is also notable for its large sugar-cane fields.
After lunch at a local restaurant, cross the Nile to Edfu, where you’ll visit the grand Temple of Horus, widely regarded as the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt. According to Egyptian mythology, it is here that Horus avenged the murder of his father, Osiris, by killing the god Seth.
